This hurts to think about

I somehow recently came across a website that had a post titled “10 Most Barbarous Torture Methods Ever Known”.  I figured, “hmm, this should be interesting”, so I went ahead and read through it.  It was a very interesting post that talked about various methods that have been used in the past to torture people.  Needless to say, it was a little disturbing to read what some people had come up with.

This is the kind of stuff that makes a pissed off Jack Bauer look like a walk in the park.

For example, how about the “Knee Splitter”.  The name alone makes by body ache.

**I was about to post a picture and an excerpt, but if you really want to know abut it, go read it yourself.  Don’t worry, no graphic pictures**

Here is the post.

Is your username already taken?

There is a great website that lets you enter the username you typically use on websites, and it will tell you where it is available and where it’s already taken.  A simple tool, but I guess it can be helpful. From their website:

How long until that food goes bad?

That is a question we have all asked at some point.  You see the “open-by” date, but after you open it, how long then?  Well, there is a great website that will solve that ancient mystery.

StillTasty not only gives you that info in a searchable index, but it will also let you know the best way to store your food for maximum shelf-life.  Let’s look at hot wings for example:

They have every food I threw at it, so check it out.  Hopefully this will keep you from eating bad food!

A few weeks back, I was fortunate enough to get away for a little while with some friends down to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.  I haven’t been in several years, and let me just say… it was MAGICAL.  We went to 4 different parks in 2 days, spending plenty of time at each and having a pool-day at the resort in the middle for some recovery on our legs.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • The 4 parks: Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and of course, Magic Kingdom.  That’s some solid park-hopping
  • My first (and, ahem, second) trips to Whataburger.  Holy cow, that’s a tasty treat.
  • The animal safari at Animal Kingdom.  They have real giraffes! I had never seen that before!
  • Going inside the big Epcot golf-ball looking thing.  I had always wondered what was in that thing.  Awe-inspiring.
  • The parade/fireworks display at Magic Kingdom.  Best fireworks show EVER.
  • Co-Piloting the Monorail.  Heck yeah!
  • The giant turkey leg that was dinner for me at Magic Kingdom
  • Tower of Terror is still one of the coolest rides ever
  • Twittering about all of this as it was happening
  • The Coronado Springs Resort we stayed at had a killer pool with a waterslide, really good pool-bar nachos, and an ancient Myan Temple.  Seriously.
  • Spending $30+ on the full rack of ribs at Rainforest Cafe.  What, it was good and I was hungry!
  • Getting to do all of this with some of my best friends.

There are a lot more memories, but overall, it was the best few days I have had in a long while.  Here are some pics:
