A question I deal with every day

Here at my job, I give online demonstrations and training for business telephone systems.  It really is a fun job, but I sometimes have to deal with some pretty dumb questions.  For example, here’s one screen our customers see:

That seems pretty simple, right?  Here’s what I hear:

“It says to enter my name and email address.  What do I put?”

Really?  Well let me think about that one for a second.  Oh, I know!  How about YOUR NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS!

Everyday, folks.

Do you hear a lot of dumb questions/comments where you work?

Griffin Clarifi – Does it take the blur out of iPhone photos?

I recently picked up one of the iPhone cases that Griffin makes called the Clarifi.  It is your run-of-the-mill hardshell protective case, but with one added feature.  There is a little lens that slides over the iPhone’s camera lens, and it is supposed to make close-up shots look a lot better.  Anyone with an iPhone knows that if you take a close-up shot of anything with the camera, it’s going to be blurry.  This is supposed to fix that.

First of all, here is what it looks like on the iPhone.  Click on all of these for larger versions:

Notice the little thing near the camera lens.  That’s what slides over when you want to take a closeup:

And now, my test shots.  First, a picture without the lens:

Now, with the lens:

Test 2 without the lens:

Now, with the lens:

What I take away from this is that it does clear up the pictures a little, and it seems to add more color to them as well.  I’m not sure if that makes it worth the $35 price tag, but if you need a new case for your iPhone and taking pictures is important to you, then check out the Griffin Clarifi.

An anonymous way to send a helpful message

Have you ever wanted to tell someone something, but you just didn’t want to be the one to tell them?  For example, someone comes out of the restroom, and they have a little “drippage” stain on their pants.  Guys, you know exactly what I’m talking about.  Anyways, there is a website called Nice Critic that will anonymously send a message to someone letting them know of whatever it is you want to tell them.

They have several categories to choose from.  In my test, I did “personal hygiene”.

You are given a bunch of pre-written messages to choose from:

You choose your message, type the person’s email address in, and send it.  It is complete;y anonymous, and it saves you from having to be the bearer of bad news.

Here is the email I sent myself:

Enjoy!

“Work out in work clothes” guy

I try and work out several times a week in the workout room here at my office.  Usually, all I do it the treadmill, but it has been good enough so far in my quest to become healthy.  When I do the treadmill, it’s very important that I am comfortable in the clothes I am jogging in.  You can imagine my lack of understanding when I saw this yesterday in the gym:

How can you do something as aerobic as the treadmill in your work clothes?  Anyone out there ever have/want to do this?  What’s the motivation?
